I have the honour to transmit a copy of a
report by Mr. G. R. Sayer, the Head of the Sanitary Department, on the recent vaccination campaign, which was organized in November in consequence of a serious outbreak
of small-pox.
2.
Your Grace will note that all classes of the community united in helping to make the campaign a success, with the result that 390,000 of the population ashore and afloat were vaccinated for the remarkably low expenditure of $16,750. I consider that Mr. Sayer, and all who were associated with him, are much to be congratulated on the result of the campaign, which no doubt prevented the spidemic attaining disastrous proportions. I have caused an expression of my appreciation of their efforts to be conveyed to the various organisations, whose members placed their services at the disposal of the Government.
